Q: Excessive sweating?
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas about how to stop excessive sweating? I don't mean just underarms; I mean total body. I sweat like nobody's business and try to stay under a fan as much as possible. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

A: You need a dermatologist. You may be suffering from hyperhidrosis (not diaphoresis as the person incorrectly stated above). I suffer from this and have been since I was 13. I am now 21. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating unrelated to heat. You will sweat even when it is cold outside. My dermatologist told me this condition was genetic. I had hand, armpit, and feet sweating. It would get so bad, that I was embarassed to shake someone's hand or even be seen out in public because I would have dark sweat stains on my shirt. There are many treatments for this including pills, botox injections, and even surgery. I don't know how bad your sweating is or if it is causing you any public embarassment, but I'd speak with a dermatologist. My doctor said it was partially hormonal. I take Ditropan XL which is an anticholineric drug that is used to treat over active bladder. I don't have that condition but the side effect of the med. causes a decrease in sweating. This has been a miracle drug for me! Speak to your doctor about what's right for you. There are treatment options out there. Good luck!

Q: Excessive Sweating?
I have a problem where I sweat way to much! I really want to tell my mom so that I can get a special anti persperant but i'm to embarassed (weird i know). I want to buy a anti persperant called Certain Dri, but I'm scared she will ask questions if we go to the store for it because it says stops excessive sweating on the front label. Can someone please tell me how to approach my mom (and if you can can you please reccomend an anti persperant). Thankyou everyone that responds to this!

A: Sweating is really embarassing because when you sweat and you ar walking around people stare a laugh, so I know how that is. I went to my docotr and she prescribed a liquid called Drysol that drys out your sweat glands. It can be uncomfortable when you first use it but it works. The other option you have is Botoxshots to freeze your sweat glands, those work too but are expensive. As for the question at hand, your mom is going to understand if you just go to her and say, mom I'm embarassed because I sweat a lot and it's affecting me. Do you think we can go buy CertainDri to help? The worse she'll say is no, and then you can ask your doctor at your next check-up. Or ask a sibling or a friends sibling, or someone you are really comfortable with. But I promise your mom will be okay with it.

Q: excessive sweating?
Tomorrow is supposed to be really hot here, and I have a excessive probleme with sweating. I use secret clinical strength deoderant, but I still like to wear a sweater or something to cover up the sweat stains. I have tried an undershirt, but it still shows through a good amount. I dont really want to be wearing a sweater in 70-80 degree weather, when I am already burning up. Have any suggestions?

A: I understand where you are coming from becuase I have a similar problem and I use the same deoderant. All I can say is, be sure to apply your deoderant at night (this really helps), and if you drink coffee be aware that this can cause you to sweat even more than usual.

Q: What causes excessive underarm sweating and what are some treatments that are used to control or stop it?

Q: When using Hypercare for excessive sweating do I use antiperspirants on the days I do not apply Hypercare?
My daughter has just been perscribed Hypercare for excessive underarm sweating and we understand that she is not to apply deodorants or antiperspirants at the same time as Hypercare but what about on the off days? Do you just use nothing on those days? Kind of scary for someone who knows they sweat a lot.

A: I don't know much about Hypercare, but I do have other alternatives for you... Hyperhidrosis is a fairly common disorder shared by millions across the world. By definition, Hyperhidrosis is the excessive sweating of the head, face, hands, feet and armpits no matter the temperature or conditions. The sweating is erratic, unpredictable and uncontrollable. You do have some options. To stop the excessive sweating try: 1. Drysol Drysol is a prescription deodorant that works wonders for underarm, hand and foot sweating. Apply it to your hands, feet, armpits or anywhere else you sweat at night before bed. You only need to apply it once a day - it's not like regular deodorant. This stuff is Clinical Strength. Beware of irritation with Drysol. You may have to take a day or two off from this treatment if your skin gets too dry, sensative or red with a rash. 2. Drink more water to lower your body temperature. A lot of people are confused by this solution. They think if they drink more water, it will give them that much more fluid to sweat out. This is totally incorrect. Drinking more water cools your core temperature and will alleviate some of the excessive sweating. Of course now you'll need to worry about all those bathroom breaks. :) 3. Drink Green Tea or Sage Tea at night Tea contains an astringent property which will dry out oils and prevent excess moister from escaping the skin. It essentially drys you from the inside out. In addition to helping your complexion, green tea will neutralize many of the toxins that create the pungent odor in sweat. By the way, that odor is caused by bacteria that treats your sweat as a breeding ground. Gross! 4. Try Certain Dri (non-prescription deodorant) You can buy this one at most pharmacies. Certain dry is a little less abrasive than Drysol so you won't need to worry as much about irritation. It is however a little less strong. You'll want to gauge your level of Hyperhidrosis by first trying Certain Dri. If your sweating continues, upgrade to Drysol and that should do the trick. 5. Avoid spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine Don't underestimate the power of your diet. Onions, Garlic, Curry, Coffee and a whole host of other ingredients are powerful triggers for hyperhidrosis sweating. Cut out some of these cultprits and see gradual but noticeable results. Add leafy greens and tea into your diet for a positive effect on sweating. Changing your diet will really cut out the spontaneous sweating from your daily lunch breaks. 6. Try Iontophoresis treatments. This is more of a phase 3 solution. Try the clinical deodorants and diet fixes first. However, there is a treatment called Iontophoresis where you place your hands and feet into bowls or plates. The plates are filled with mineral water. Connected to the plates is an Iontophoresis electromagnetic device. Gentle electic pulses are distributed through mineral water. The minerals bond and temporarily change the nature of your sweat pores to block the sweat. This treatment works well. You can learn about it through the Source link I've provided below. 7. Try a Sage Tea Soak There's something called a Sage Tea solution what you do is... a. Buy Sage Tea from your supermarket b. Fill a large bowl with room temperature water c. Put the sage tea bags in the bowl and let the tea dissolve a bit. d. soak your hands for 15 minutes in the bowl. Sage Tea will act as an astringent to dry the skin and prevent excessive sweating for many days to follow. Don't just do this soak one day. Do it everyday for 5 days straight (15 minutes at a time) and you'll see great results. If your hands tan from the tea, just wash them in the sink with antibacterial soap. The residue will come off easily. 8. ETS (Endoscopic Thorasic Surgery) If the sweating is bad enough, some people will opt towards ETS (Endoscopic Thorasic Surgery). This is, however, a LAST resort. I recommend you try everything else possible before opting towards surgery. You can speak with your Dermatologist to find out more. CHECK OUT THE SOURCE LINK I'VE PROVIDED BELOW FOR MORE TIPS ON TREATING HYPERHIDROSIS... You can find tons other suggestions and natural solutions through the link I've provided. Best of Luck!

Q: How can you stop excessive sweating even when cold?
How can you stop excessive underarm sweating without drugs or antiperspirants (which are bad for you)? This happens even it's cold -- it has nothing to do with sweating from being too hot.

A: Hi Rose. I had this problem. In my case, it was an anxiety problem. My body decided that it would give me underarm perspiration as it's way of dealing with stress since I obviously held it in too much. I would not say that antiperspirants are bad for you unless you have some kind of adverse reaction to them. I did react but if you don't, I would not hesitate to use them. Another option if you are willing to wear them is "Cami-Vee". It absorbs perspiration before it can damage your blouse or dress. Naturally, if this is severely bothersome to you, you should see a doctor but this symptom in itself does not point to any serious disease process. Good luck.

Q: What are some natural ways to help with excessive sweating?
Besides the obvious things like staying in a cool environment, etc... What are some natural ways to help excessive sweating? I don't believe it's "hyperhidrosis" because my sweating is generalized, but it seems to be worse on my face, hands, armpits, and chest. I literally am soaking wet after 5 minutes of being outside on a warm day, even if I'm not doing much. I also sweat a lot when I sleep. I use a fan at night and only sleep with a sheet (I'm just not comfortable unless something is covering me.

A: Hey there, I don't beleive someone suffered from sweating more than I have, Here are some tips for you from a person who found out about all of this the hard way : 1. Drysol is aluminum chloride hexahydrate and when applied to the underarms works to block the sweat glands and plug the pores. It is a prescription medication and should only be utilized with a doctor's guidance. 2. Try wearing a ordinary, white, 100% cotton t-shirt underneath your normal shirts. This will be your first line of defense against sweat puddles shaping on your outer shirt. Also, the white t-shirts are easy to bleach/oxy-clean the stains out of. 3. Recall that if it happens to be your feet that are sweating excessively, try taking one more pair of shoes and socks with you in the morning. Change both about halfway through your day. While it won't remove the sweating it will keep your feet dry. 4. Make sure you shower regularly. This will help to minimize effects of over-sweating. By showering as necessary you can eliminate as much of the bacteria that causes body odor. If you do sweat while you're clean you won't smell as much as sweating when you're unclean. a. Try anti-bacterial soaps to neutralize additional bacteria while you shower. 5. Maintain less body hair. You may find with reducing your body hair you can control body odors associated with over-sweating. Hair traps a lot of the bacteria and oils that cause odor when combined with sweating. 6. Drink plenty of water. It both dilutes the concentration of your bodily effluents and it cleanses the whole system. 7. Check the weather forecast each day and dress appropriately. 8.Invest in a small fan to keep in your work area. You may sweat less because it is cooler and the air circulation will help perspiration to evaporate quicker. 9. Watch your weight. Heavier people have a difficult time cooling themselves and may perspire more. Try getting to a healthy weight and your perspiration issues may solve themselves. Q: What can i use to stop excessive sweating for my underarms?
i've noticed i have excessive sweating from my underarms , its so annoying and embarrassing , is there anything i can buy or use to stop this problem , any help will be muchly appreciated. xx

A: most of the time, just using a little more deodorant could help... and take a few wet wipes or towels with you so if you begin to sweat too much you can always get them from your locker, purse,or book bag and go to the bathroom to clean yourself...and it can be embarrasing, but try to not draw attention and jst discreatly go up to the teachers desk and ask to go tothe bathroom instead of raising your hand...and another healthy tip, ALWAYS TAKE ANOTHER SHIRT! So if you sweat too much you can always change(try to pick a shirtt that looks fairly like the first)
