Q: Is it true that drinking a VERY mild bleach solution can be beneficial to the health of your digestive system?
I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before, but I can't find any evidence either for or against in on the web. Bleach is after all just chlorine, and the body has far worse chemicals in it that than!

A: NO! bleach is not only bad for your digestive system, it will kill you!! there are bacteria in the human digestive system that are absolutely nessecary for a healthy digestive system - if you drink any amount of bleach, weak or not, they will die and this could potentially be very bad for your health. .

Q: is it a health issue if your food passes through your digestive system too fast?
i heard stress can cause this but lately - it seems that the food i eat literally goes in one end and out the other in a matter of 20 minutes or less. is that abnormal?

A: The medical term for the process you're asking about is called Gastric Motility if you want to research it. Hormones play a big part in the process. If what you describe is abnormal for you, then you may want to get checked out to make sure it's not an indication of a bigger problem (like hyperthyroid).

Q: working in a job that works with natural health and the digestive system... Anyone a Naturopath?
Hey i graduated from school about a year ago and i do not know where to start to go to post secondary school. I know right now i hate my jobs... i cannot work another 9-5 job that i hate 5 days a week. luckily i live with my parents still and so money will not be a issue for living expense and i will get a student loan for school. But i've really been thinking about what i want to do and I'm thinking the one thing I'm insanely interested in is the digestive system and how it heals everything. I read book after book on it. But then I'm finding that i can't really find a job in just that.... i was thinking about becoming a Naturopath but school is so expensive and one day i want to raise a family and only work 2-3 days a week so i don't think that would be ideal to go to school for 8 years an rack up that much in student loans. So what I'm wondering is.... does anybody know of any jobs that could be similar to this field but not as qualified and where do i even get started? I've been looking online for schools but I'm so confused. I live in the BC, Canada. Also... a natural health consultant i've been looking into becoming. Do they really have a stable job out there in the world today? also i would be extremly interested in woman's studies. Maybe becoming a natural midwife but the problem is i don't want to do it through government funded medical school i don't believe in the drugs at all or the way they treat giving birth as a illness not a natural process Ha. I don't want answers from anyone who is not in the natural health field Because you guys are totally ignorant to what you have been learning all your lives.. I am not lazy and i have been raised in natural health all my life. working with the Ph balance of the body is my main thing but i have just recently got interested in the digestive system. P.s naturapath are not quacks they do the exact same school as a doctor! they just don't use cover ups (drugs) to fix things they work with the balance of the body and let the body fix itself! and ......Healthy Skeptic. you really honestly have no idea what your talking about.

A: Oh my god... You are rediculous. Let me re-write your question using different, but equal wording. Maybe you will see how rediculous this is. You: "I'm incredibly lazy. I hate having to actually go to a job during normal work hours on a regular basis. I am a full grown adult that has graduated from college, but I still live at home and rely on my hard working, aging parents. I just want a job that pays well, and allows me to work about half as much as most people. This job must align itself with my false notions, conspiracy theories, etc. I am willing to allow the government to "fund me" with a student loan, but I certainly don't want to go to a legitimate academic institution because I don't trust government funded institutions. I read a book once that was written by some quack about the digestive system. Since I don't know much about the human body (or science in general), the book was able to fool me into believing everything it said." Sorry if that is harsh, but its true. Can you provide some specific examples of what makes you think that mainstream medicine "treats giving birth as a illness, not a natural process". That statement is just wrong...and stupid.

Q: Are there any ways to improve or fasten up our digestion speed and the health of the digestive system?
I feel my tummy bloats up after having a meal of rice.. I do try to drink a lot of water.. But i think my digestive system is far too slow when it comes to digesting rice.. I feel full for the rest of the day and i just cannot eat anything else.. Because of that i dont get hungry at all! I do moderate level of exercise and i am in good health.. But have been facing this problem for quite sometime!

A: Have an exact similar problem. Eat a banana after meals and take a small walk it helps a great deal. Also I've read somewhere, that eating a carrot or beetroot during the meal improves the digestion, did not try this myself.

Q: should i detox my digestive system?
i was thinking about buying a digestive health detox kit from GNC. I have had several prescriptions of antibiotics over the past few months and my digestive system is really out of whack. If I were to "detox" my digestive system, will this restore the balance of bacteria in my gut?

A: I haven't had any real luck with them though some people swear by them. What works for me is to get some acidophilus tablets (also called probiotics) and take them. I also eat yogurt and if my system is really out of whack, I take something for candida plus eliminate sugars & yeast from my diet for at least two weeks. Probiotics from either Nature's Sunshine or Solgar are the easiest on my stomach but of course, everyone is different. I suggest trying this route before the detox kits. You might also try a detox tea from Yogi Teas as they help soothe the stomach while getting rid of toxins. There are all different types so you can read through them and see what appeals to you. Good luck.

Q: how does the digestive system work with the circulatory system?
I need this for my science project. So please help. It says I need too explain how they work together and how the health of one system is dependent upon another.

A: The digestive system breaks down the food stuffs that are ingested into the basic building blocks and energy sources that every cells needs. However, the circulatory system is necessary to move this material from the digestive system to those cells, and also to pick up the wastes from the cells and eliminate them.

Q: What are some ways that you can keep your digestive system healthy?
Me and a friend are doing a project for health class and we want to know some ways to keep the digestive system healthy. Thanks and there will be a best answer given out.

A: stick to fibre rich foods and do simple exercises like yoga and pilates poses that target the tummy area..im serious, they help to improve the blood circulation..and yes, each individual has to identify & keep track of foods that benefit their digestive system and those that dont.4 example, fruits like prunes may trigger diaorrhea for some people, so they should either minimize the intake of this fruit or completely avoid it..drink lots of plain water too as it will help the intestines absorb nutrients betterand detox themselves simultaneously..

Q: Describe the general function of the digestive system?
Imagine that you have been asked to provide an explanation about the structure and function of this system to a specific segment of the general public, perhaps a group of senior citizens, pregnant women, or student athletes, who want to learn more about normal functions of the human body as well as health concerns. Describe the general function of the digestive system and explain how the organ system contributes to physiological homeostasis of the human organism?

A: Well the digestive system begins at your mouth and ends at your anus! Food enters the mouth where it comes in contact with enzymes such as amylase which helps digest starch. It enters your stomach through your oesophagus. Once the food is in your stomach it comes in contact with acid and various enzymes that help digest the different components of your foods such as fats, carbohydrates, proteins etc...the acid produced in your stomach allows various enzymes to work at thier optimum pH. The food then enters your intestines which then break down the food into smaller products and absorbs various fats proteins and carbohydrates. The remaining food (waste) then enters your colon and rectum and is excreted from your anus......thats a very basic description.

Q: What is the worst disease that affects the digestive system?
I'm doing a powerpoint research project on diseases of the Digestive System and I need to know the one that presents the most major health issue. I've searched the internet and found plenty of diseases but not any that will tell me which ones the worst. If you know you would be saving my life!

A: Look up pancreatic diseases and liver diseases. Both are bad so you can see what you would hate to suffer with most.

Q: health: is it safe to eat raw garlic, does it help your digestive system?

A: It is certainly safe to eat raw, although it's very strong tasting that way. There is no proof that it helps digestion but in some people it does cause problems such as heartburn or gas. Also, you should know that any claims of garlic killing bacteria or viruses in the human body are unverified.

Q: is the kind of acidophilus that you use for your digestive system the same as is used for yeast infections?
I just bought Acidophilus Pearls and it says they are good for the digestive system, but I've also read that acidophilus is used for yeast infections and vaginal health. Is it the same stuff?

A: We do house some of the same beneficial bacteria vaginally as well as in our intestines. In fact newborn babies get their first inoculations of friendly bacteria thru the birth canal or vagina. The acidophilus pearls do contain just two strains and they also colonize in the vagina, but the pearls should not be inserted vaginally though. They are protectively coated and may not dissolve correctly in the vagina. If you want to use probiotics vaginally, get one that is not enterically coated or coated in any way, like Jarro-Dophilus or PrimaDophilus. You can also use acidophilus powder and plain yogurt, put it on a tampon or some media to insert it. It really works well. L. rhamnosus, L. acidophilus and B. bifidum are some of the strains found both vaginally and in the G.I. tract.

Q: Digestive system?
How has research about cells (related to the stomach) brought about improvements in human health and nutrition?

A: When researches come out with new findings, they advertise it or try to tell people about it. But it all depends on whether WE want to stay healthy or not. Really, I think these research things don't help.
