no harm caused right? has been here for at least 1-2 months, maximum 3 months.

Q: What is causing eye irritation, pain and inflammation under eye? Lump on side of head?
I went to see an Opthalmologist who said I had Conjunctivitis. I was prescribed eye drops and the problem subsided. I am now having pain and irritation again, and have noticed there is an area which extends from next to my nose - under my eye - to about an inch above the corner of my mouth that seems to be swollen. It is hard, and is pretty thin. My eye seems to be dried out and is smaller than the other. I thought it may have been from a tooth problem, but, I went to my dentist who seems to feel that this is not a concern. I do have some pain in the tooth, but not very much. I also have a lump on the right side of my head just above my ear. This lump extends from near my temple to just above my ear and is area which is about 2 - 3 inches. I have went to a doctor who mentioned Lymphadenopathy. I was prescribed Amoxyclillin and it seemed to go down, but it is now bigger again. I have finished the anibiotics. I also have a lot of itching above the lump area.

A: I would say that you should go back to the doctor to get more antibiotics. If it was working, it could just be you need a different one to finish the job.

Q: Is the phlegmon (an inflammation in cellular tissues of eye) deathly in one day?
A baby (5 month old) was in hospital after 11AM. The report of CT of the hospital said that belong to an inflammation pathological changes at 4:30 PM. But the baby died in hospital around 6:00AM next day.

A: A phlegmon is a diffuse purulent inflammation, usually due to bacteria. If it does not remain a localized process, common in infants, the infection can disseminate and sepsis can occur.

A: sadly no

Q: Really worried about eye inflammation. Need Answer!?
For a long time now, I've had redness in my eyes. I have gone to many optomotrists but im sorry to say, they have all failed. Ive taken many eye drops including allergy eye drops. I have taken 'lid care' which is like a piece of cotton that contains chemicals that clean out your eye lids (could be used to remove make up). Just last Month I went to an optomotrist and he told me that i had eye inflammation. Which ment, I have an infection growing on another tissue on my eyes. This could lead to many things. Its not really that bad but its getting more and more red every day. Ive had it for 3 years and now it has covered the whole right side of my eye. Any info is great, Thanks

A: This isn't something I would want to fool around with so try to find a specialist in your area who can help you with this. Google and type in "eye inflammation" and look through the list of things they have listed and see if anything matches what you have. I'm surprised that the opthamologist didn't do more to take care of you ~ shame on him/her. Here is one link that might help you: http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/eye_inflammation.htm Infections can cause a lot of damage so definitely keep looking until you find someone who will treat this and do something to get rid of the problem. Many people don't realize that infections can kill so even though I doubt that would be the case here, you could end up with permanent sight damage or possibly go blind in time. Educate yourself through Google, then go prepared next time you see a doctor. Don't let them push you away like this is no big deal, especially since it is getting worse. I'm also wondering if you could have conjunctivitis (pink eye)? My husband had that one time (he's an x-ray tech at a hospital) and his eye got really red but once the doctor gave him drops and he used it for about a week, it went away. Pink eye is very contagious so be sure and wash your hands anytime you touch your eye and properly dispose of any tissues or items that touch your eyes. http://www.medicinenet.com/pink_eye/article.htm Good luck

Q: Late Menstrual cycle again and recurring eye inflammation..Help!!!?
(im 24) Okay so earlier this year around April, I was late for my cycle, then one month later still no cycle, and I get this really bad eye inflammation in one eye, So, 3 months pass and still no cycle and really bad eye inflammation. so one day my period decides it wants to come, and low and behold, my eye inflammtion goes away, slowly but surely!! after about 2 weeks of eye relief, it comes back!! and now my period is missing in action!!! I went to the eye doc and he said I had a cornea infection, and he said that was weird because I don't wear contacts, and haven't wore them in year... so I take the drops... and every things good, but now my cycle is not here again, and my eye is starting to act up, again! but not as bad as it was before, and on top of all that I have this boil on my vulva that keeps coming back with a friend or two... and on top of that, my ovaries hurt at times, like when I sneeze, I dont have any weird smell but i do have a watery like discharge now!! I have been told by friends that my hormones might be way off balance, because a few weeks ago, i saw a hair under my chin!!! lol, Im going to go to the gyno. next week... what do you think is wrong with me? hormones off balance? auto immune problem? ovary cysts? or what? p.s I highly doubt that I'm PG, so there's no need for a test in my eyes..( least I hope not)

A: The boils sounds like herpes....and I hope you don't have Aids, what if the eye and period problems are in relation to Aids? the boils though definitely sound like herpes. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and thats not what it sounds like you have, so i doubt you have ovary cysts. it seems like you might have an auto immune problem. Let's hope it's not serious, and not a STD. I wish you luck and I don't know if you're religious or not, but I'll say a prayer for you!!

Q: its ok if i allow my eye inflammation (just some redness which itself isnt drastic) in my eyes to be?
no harm caused right? has been here for at least 1-2 months, maximum 3 months. :)

A: Well, it depends on what is causing it. It could be serious, or it could be something harmless, the only way to know and to stay healthy is to have a real doctor look at you. Simple.

Q: eye inflammation home remedies/homeopathic treatments/holistic?

Q: migraines, eye inflammation, blurred vision, please help!?
First,I have migrains but I don't think the cause. Woke up with a one red eye that soon transfered to both( doctor said scloritis). know that the red eyes are gone I am having blurred vision in one eye... Been to multiple doctors and they are not coming up with anything( also had immune test which came back ok) please help with ideas, extremly scared since nobody know! Anybody had similar experience?

A: It sounds like a cluster headache, but it could be a visual aura of migraine or the other differential diagnosis is ophthalmoplegic migraine (lower probability).. The treatment of each one is different. Try to consult a neurologist.

Q: Can I use Visine Eye drops on a 6 month old?
My baby has eye inflammation, Can I use regular Visine Eyedrops or do they have specific eye drops for babies, if so, which ones? Thanks.

A: Use saline solution, you can get it from the pharmacy or make it yourself. About 1/4 teaspoon salt in a cup of cooled boiled water and wipe it gently across babies eye with a cotton wipe or soft cloth from the inside out. I should just add that saline is very safe, I used it on both of my girls and myself many times. Many people forget that salt (saline) is actually a natural antiseptic

Q: Severe eye inflammation? What to do?
My friend has been to the oftamologist, she said that he doesn't have any infection, yet his eyes are red, kinda dry and hurt a lot during night...I've been thinking what could it be and came to the idea of a parasite-Demodex...So what you think, could it be demodex or something else? Please help. P.S.He has been using some eye-drops (no chemicals).

A: There could be many factors. If your friend uses over the counter eye drops for a long period of time, he could just be experiencing blood vessels inside the eye constricting causing the itching and pain at night. Does your friend have blurred vision, floaters, or light sensitivity? Does your friend wear contacts? From how you have described his eye situation, it probably is dry eyes. The best over the counter eye drops are Thera Tears. These drops are perfect for lubricating the eyes without causing irritation and pain most drops do. Many Optometrists recommend these drops to their patients and I am one of them. Good luck!

Q: Dry eye inflammation, help?
My upper lid is inflamed/infected and the doctor prescribed antibiotic drop plus a steroid drop (which I am worried it might be too strong and not necessary). The steroid drop leaflet says 3 times a day for 3 days, the doctor said 4 times for a week. Can I do warm compresses instead of taking those steroids? I can tolerate the inflammation, it's not that horrible.

A: The idea of the steroid is to get the inflammation under control so that the antibiotics, warm compresses, lid scrubs, or any other treatments will work better. It's a short-term solution. Often if we just use an antibiotic, the inflammation remains and the bacteria will regrow, which doesn't solve the problem. Four times a day for a week is fairly normal for a starting dose; you might have another week at twice a day after that. My guess is you've got a 'weak' or 'soft' steroid, like Lotemax (loteprednol), which can be used more safely without worrying about side effects . Topical ocular steroids (i.e. drops) don't tend to absorb much systemically, so there shouldn't be any of the bad side effects you hear about people taking steroid pills or injections. There are potential ocular side effects like glaucoma and cataracts, but these are virtually non-existent unless you're taking the drops for more than four weeks, and are even less common with soft steroids anyway. If you're really concerned about it, discuss it with the prescribing doctor -- there are probably other options.
