Q: medicine..?
Does anyone know if tavegyl is a good medicine, and what exactly is it for.

A: "Used to relieve hay fever and allergy symptoms, including itchy skin; hives; sneezing; runny nose; and red, itchy, tearing eyes." "In a controlled comparative study, the antihistaminic Tavegyl was found to have good antipruritic effect. In this series of 38 patients, the clinical response was good in 17 cases and fair in 16 cases. Only in 5 cases were the results poor. Tavegyl was very well tolerated and no adverse effects or toxic reactions were observed in this series. Tavegyl is no doubt a valuable addition to the available antihistminics with potent antihistaminic effect. It is especially effective in cases of eczematous dermatoses, superficial fungus infections with secondary eczematization, neurodermatitis, urticaria, angioneurotic oedema and essential pruritus."

Q: Medicine??
is it bad to take medicine when you dont need it? like taking cold medicine..but dont have a cold?

Q: What medicine urgently to be taken for pain during urination?
What precaution should I take if I have piercing pain in uterus during urination, and what is the medicine ? I have severe pains in back, also have piles, taking ayurved medicine, but I dont know all of a sudden I had piercing pain into uterus while walking and now pain while passing urine, please suggest medicine,or urgent precaution,I dont get period since year, and 47 years old?

A: Most likely a bladder infection, though there are some other possibilities. You need to see a real doctor (NOT ayurvedic) for a proper diagnosis and treatment. If it is a bladder infection, and now you have pains in the back, the infection may have got into your kidneys (pyelonephritis). This is a serious infection and needs antibiotics as untreated can lead to kidney failure. It's never a good idea to ask random strangers on the internet to diagnose your medical problems

Q: How will Nuclear Medicine careers in the future look?
I was planning to go into Nuclear Medicine but the medical director the school I planned to go to said that Nuclear Medicine might not be the best thing now. Sure pay is great but job held over the years were small. They might put nuclear medicine in the hands of say, medical assistants or sonographers to do it. Would anyone know if Nuclear Medicine would be a good choice for plenty of jobs after i graduate in around 3 year? What do you think about radiology?

A: It looks fascinating. Stick with whatever you want to do. No training is wasted. From an old UK BMJ... http://archive.student.bmj.com/issues/04/01/careers/22.php But your medical director could have a point (the BMJ was from 2004 I think) http://www.medicaljobs.org/careers/Nuclear-Medicine-Technologists.php

Q: What medicine or such can help a women during period for pain?
My girlfriend is in a great deal of pain every time during her period. She is from Asia and currently in Japan now, and they don't seem to have any medicine for it. I could have sworn there is medicine in America for it, what can I do to help her?

A: ibuprofen, aka advil or something like that, is the best for cramps and other things like headaches. if she is in so much pain that she feels like she might die or something, like if the pain is that extreme every time she has her period, she should definitely see a gynecologist.

I'm almost sure I have a yeast infection. I have medicine but I would like to know how long i take the medicine? Do i only take it once? Or do I keep take it until it goes away? Help please?

Q: Can different fish medicine be used on the same water?
I mean if I already use the "white spot" medicine in the aquarium, can I use other kind of medicine for example "gill parasite" medicine in the same aquarium without changing the water? Or do I have to change the water first to use the medicine. Because I found out it wasn't a white spot disease or itch on my fish, it was a gill disease, so I need to treat it with gill medicine. Please help! And yes the color of the white spot medicine is dark blue, while the color of the gill medicine is dark red. Will it be bad if they mix together? P.S I used the white spot medicine yesterday, and the water turn clear again.

A: It depends on what you are using. Typically Mardel products can be used together. You should do some Internet research on the product you are using and try to find out that way, or ask a reputable pet store what they would recommend. I would find someone who specializes in aquariums instead of petsmart or petco type stores. If you did happen to use the Mardel, I would do a 50% water change and start treating with the other meds. I have had an aquarium for a number of years now, but am by no means a professional so please contact a reputable aquarium shop and ask for assistance. Good Luck

Q: What medicine works best for curing a cold?
My brother is starting to get a cold and cannot afford to get sick right now. What medicine works best for curing the beginning symptoms of a cold. Don't mention Zicam because that causes a loss of smell.

A: For me as soon as I start to sneeze and I know I am coming down with a cold I take the Homeopathic Medicine Arsenicum Alb 200 and repaet it every 2 hours usually just three doses suffice in nipping the cold in the bud. Best medicine money can buy. Best regards

Q: What medicine has the side effect of causing increased body heat?
Long story but what medicine would casue an increased body temperature? Like warm to the touch.

A: Quite a few. Caffeine (we don't normally consider that a medicine per se) can cause increase in body temp as a function of increased heartbeat. Pseudoephedrine can cause similar effects. So can antipsychotics, via a rare but serious side effect called neuroleptic malignant syndrome whereby the person develops muscle rigidity and high body temp.

Q: What medicine ball exercises are good for baseball?
I'm looking to get a little more fit and in shape for baseball. What medicine ball exercises are good/important?

A: exercises that imitate a baseball swing or throw. also u can have someone throw the ball at u and try to slow the ball down. it will imitate slowing ur arm down on the follow through or slowing down the bat. these exercises can be just as important. u can probably find some examples on the internet.

Q: What medicine to take for a female bladder infection?
A relative has bladder infection and I want to know what to take as an alternative to Cipro 500mg. I read Cipro makes bones hurt and has various side effects that my relative is experiencing. Any over the counter medicine that my relative can take to make the bladder infection not hurt? We tried Acetaminophen but that dont work. Thank you.

A: No, if you have an infection, you need an anti-biotics. Have you ever taken Cipro? It is very good when treating bacterial infections. Here are some commonly used medications below: * Amoxicillin * Doxycycline (should not be used under age 8) * Cephalosporins * Nitrofurantoin * Sulfa drugs (sulfonamides) * Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole * Quinolones (should not be used in children)

Q: What medicine is the best to heal cold sores fast?
There is Lysine, Abreva, etc that says that they cure cold sores fast, but what is the best medicine I can get to heal as fast as possible and not too expensive?

A: The absolute best treatment is any cream containing Acyclovir. Acyclovir is an antiviral drug. Brand names here include Zovirax and Blistex. You put the cream on 5 times per day as soon as you feel the first tingle of a cold sore and it won't develop. It's brilliant! Look at this site for further information. http://www.drugs.com/acyclovir.html I don't know where you are but shop around, as I find Blistex is half the price of Zovirax and has exactly the same acyclovir content.

Q: What medicine is best to treat a dog for fleas?
Is Frontline Plus or Revolution a better medicine to treat a dog for fleas? He is a 75 pound German Shepherd mix and we've had a hard time getting rid of his fleas. Also, how would you treat fleas in a yard?

A: Revolution on dogs is a no no. A lot of new complications in dogs have been discovered. Many vets have all together stopped using revolution on dogs because the risks are so high. Try Frontline. Raid makes a good outdoor insecticide, works on fleas. You can find it at any walmart, but keep the animals out of the yard for 24 hours after spraying.

Q: What medicine is safely to use or any home remedies can help me with pregnancy rashes and stretch marks?
What medicine is safely to use or any home remedies can help me with pregnancy rashes and stretch marks ,especially how to cure the itch? I am currently 8 months pregnant. Thanks for your help.

A: Coco butter (Palmers Tummy Butter sold at any drugstore, walmart, target, or maternity store) will ease the itch and fade the stretch marks but nothing gets rid of them. I use the tummy butter and it faded the marks around my bellybutton(for some reason thats the only place I got them) A LOT..
