Q: Urinary Incontinence?
Has anyone ever tried the herbal supplements for urinary incontinence, any success? Any other suggestions and round about price?
I can't use PPA because he has glaucoma.
He is healthy according to CBC/Profile/T4/Urinalysis. He is a happy dog that still plays, runs around, and romps with my Jack Russel.
Proin is PPA, or Phenylpropanolamine
A: My sister uses Proin for her dog and it works well. I've also heard cranberry pills work ok.
Q: Can you have urinary incontinence from being stressed out?
I'm 18. I've been stressed out a lot lately with my college classes, assignments, activities, work, etc.
I've noticed for the past two weeks that I've been experiencing a bit of urinary incontinence. However, today and yesterday when I've been relaxed, I haven't experienced any urinary incontinence.
So, I was just wondering if urinary incontinence can be caused by stress.
I don't have children. I've never had sex.
A: You should definitely talk to your doctor about it. You could have a rather sneaky infection of sorts.
If you have had children, that could very well be to blame.
I don't know for sure if stress would have an effect.
Q: urinary incontinence?
hi there, I sustained an injury 2 yrs ago and have CRPS in my right arm as a result of this injury I have been taking many medications over time and have had many new issues come to light (Depression, Panic attacks, Weight gain and more). I recently developed Urinary Retention and had to have a indwelling catheter inserted to help I had a leg bag for three days and have now a flip-flo valve and have to record all my urinary outputs. My question is what is a good result at this stage should I be urinating alot or immitating my past patterns what is my Doc looking for?? In anticipation thank-you very much for your time and advice everyone
A: sometimes when you have a catheter fitted, you can get infections which decrease the urine flow, the doctor is probably just checking to make sure this doesn't happen
Q: Is anyone familiar or their dog had collage injections to help prevent urinary incontinence?
My dog has urinary incontinence due to weakened urinary meatus at the ureter. We were told she could have the collagen injection into this area to plump it up but would only last 12 -15 months. and it doesn't always work.
A: Just because of the cost, I would try the PPA or hormones first (they show a higher success rate). Here's is a link to the complications associated with the injections.
Also, it must be pretty expensive, here is another link to a study which will pay up to $650.00 for the procedure and an additional $100.00 for filling out a questionaire after completion.

Q: Is urinary incontinence normal when someone is constipated?
And can being chronically constipated make the urinary incontinence permanent?
No trauma on my back. I just have chronic constipation.
A: No this would not make incontinence permanent. Find out what is causing it and get it treated. Get the constipation treated too.
Q: Does Cystoscopy cause urinary incontinence in women?
I may have Interstitial Cystitis. So, my urologist might do a cystoscopy. What does it feel like? Is there anyone out there with IC or painful bladder syndrome? I am VERY SCARED. Please advice. Will the dilation of the urethra in women cause damage resulting in urinary incontinence?
A: I don't believe this will cause incontinece. There may be some very minor dribbling right after the procedure, but that should be gone before you even leave the office.
You should talk this over with your doctor before the procedure. The doctor can explain each step, the associated risks, and what you will feel.
Good luck!
Q: Would you use a medical device that cures urinary incontinence and rehabilitates the pelvic floor.?
You would need to do daily exercises for a couple of weeks. These exercises would be monitored by a doctor to make sure that you were doing them correctly.
Most woen don't do the kegel exercises correctly or at all. This device measures daily activity.
Would you do this to end your incontinence?
A: it depends on what you mean by medical device...is it something you have to have surgically put in? if so will it last forever or will you have to have it replaced? or is it something you just use daily?
i would also consider how much of a problem your incontinence is. if it is something that really bothers you, then by all means do what you need to to fix it. if i was in your situation most likely i would want that problem cured, especially if you are young.
Q: Have children and now have urinary incontinence, how can I stop this problem?
Want to rid myself of urinary incontinence, what can I do to help me get rid of this?
I don't think that my bladder completely get empty because if i sit on the toilet for a moment after i urinate..more urine will flow down....
A: having children weakens the supporting structures of the uterus and bladder in some women. what u ca do is kegel exercises and do them faithfully. If after several months you still have this, then I would go to ur gyno and speak to hm or her. They will suggest kegel exercises and probably prescription med to relieve an overactive bladder. so be prepared. But ultimately, if you have finished having had children I would inquire about surgery to fix this
Q: Anyone have a fixed female bullmastiff with urinary incontinence?
I have a 2 year old female bullmastiff that was fixed one year ago. Within the past few months she has developed urinary incontinence...she leaks urine constantly! No, but very frequently...every time she lays down, gets excited or just stands at the door to go out. Anyone have any experience with this?
A: Your dog will probably grow out of it.
Some small breeds that are not fixed start to pee everytime they get excited until they are almost 2 years old!
The same should apply to your large breed.
Be patient this will pass. You did the right thing getting her spayed!!!!!!
Good Luck!
Q: Does any body else have urinary incontinence due to a pinched nerve or any other back / spine injury.?
I got hurt on the job lifting a patient, the pain ran though my body causing tenderness and numbness in certain areas. Since that night I have had some urinary incontinence. Has any body else had this problem?
A: The orthopedic spine surgeon I work for tells patients who come in with herniated discs that if they become bowel or bladder incontinent, that is an emergency, and they need to have surgery right away to relieve the pressure from the nerve. The longer the nerve is irritated, the longer it takes to come back and function normally, if it comes back at all. I would have your doctors office contact your insurance company, and get surgery scheduled ASAP.
Good luck
Q: What are some ways to solve urinary incontinence?
I am only 30 years old but I have had 5 children. I do Kegel exercises but it doesn't help much. This problem is embarassing when I sneeze, cough, or laugh too hard. It seems to have gotten worse since my last child was born. Any serious advice would be appreciated.
A: You may benefit from a trip to a physical therapist that specializes in women's health issues. That therapist can make certain that you're doing the Kegels correctly (many women think they're doing them right, but they're not.) Also, strengthening your abdomen and other pelvic floor muscles can help. (Just holding your belly in works part of the abdominal muscles.) Ask your doctor for a prescription for physcial therapy for pelvic floor dysfunction or urinary incontinence. Not all Physical Therapy places offer that kind of therapy, so make sure to ask; you need to find a place that works specifically with Women's Health.
Q: What is the remedy for urinary incontinence?...what are the medicines available for it in India?
The case is one of urge incontinence, and Kegel exercises take six months or so to show effects...what can be done?
A: sorry but excersises are the best and only real way to cure it htere are some drugs but the main way is pelvic floor or kegal excersises - the effects will start with in a week or so
Q: Has anyone experienced urinary incontinence from a dog after hysterectomy?
If so, how long did it last and how was it treated?
The vet said that it is normal after hysterectomy and that there may be a little discharge. She is recovering very well and the vet is very pleased with her progress. I was just hoping to hear other peoples experiences as I've hear the incontinence can be permanent.
A: It happened with one of my huskies. She was spayed at 10 years old and the incontinence started a couple months later. It was treated with a synthetic estrogen hormone called DES, one tablet every three days. That wasn't enough so the vet prescribed 50 mg phenylpropanolamine 3 times a day. It took a little experimenting to come up with the right dose. Once we got it right she was fine for her last four years.
Q: Would you a medical device that cures urinary incontinence and rehabilitates the pelvic floor.?
You would need to do daily exercises for a couple of weeks. These exercises would be monitored by a doctor to make sure that you were doing them correctly.
Would you do this to end your incontinence?
Problem with the Kegels is that most women don't do them correctly or at all. This device tracks your daily activity to ensure that you will do them.
A: yes if i was incontenant sure. Beats piddling yourself.
Q: Is there a resonable alternative to diapers for male urinary incontinence?
Incontinent due to pregressive nerve damage and I wear diapers 24 / 7. I work 4 ten hour days a week and am traveling frequently. At home I wear cloth diapers but when I'm on the road I use disposable diapers for obvious reasons.
